Yankee Home Lights up The Centre

The Centre, Livingston is to become home to Europe’s largest Yankee Candle store as ‘Yankee at Home’ opens its doors to house-proud shoppers this weekend.

 

After collecting Yankee Candles for 20 years, West Calder residents Jim and Carolyne Kilday recognised a gap in the market. They decided to open the candle store at The Centre to offer shoppers the chance to purchase every kind of Yankee Candle available, including the famous Christmas range, which will feature in-store all year round.

 

Small changes make big differences in reducing environmental impacts

The Centre, one of Scotland’s largest shopping centres, is encouraging customers to change their habits and become a little greener by hosting a ‘tip tree’ exhibition.

 

Starting on February 14th, The Centre, owned by Land Securities, is the first shopping centre in the UK to host the exhibition, of which, the main focus is a 3m tree shaped stand full of practical hints and tips that can help make people aware of how a small change in their habits can make a big difference in reducing total environmental impacts.

 

Livingston’s new ‘Food Passport’

A platter of beauties kicked off the launch of ‘Food Passport’ in Livingston today (5 February) – a new initiative giving shoppers in West Lothian a chance to win a £4000 dream holiday.

The Food Passport, run by shopping destinations The Centre, Livingston and the Livingston Designer Outlet, will offer diners the chance to win a once-in-a-lifetime holiday to one of the countries associated with the centres’ eight participating eateries – Mexico, America, India, Italy, China, Portugal and Japan.

Local primary seven pupils at St Mary’s RC School, have been busy working on a never before seen play over the past few months and will be exhibiting their work in Almondvale Shopping Centre in February.

Pupils at St Mary’s RC School in Bathgate, West Lothian, performed extracts from the play ‘A Singer from the Desert Came’, at their school in December. Written by multi award-winning author Jamila Gavin as part of TheatreQuest 2007, the play is set in a future without adults and is a prediction of things to come if global warming is not tackled.
