Improving the Shopping Experience at Almondvale

Date: 3 Apr 2008

Shoppers visiting Almondvale Shopping Centre over recent months will have noticed some new additions to the Livingston mall. As part of an initial £400,000 investment by owners and managers Land Securities, a number of improvements have been made to upgrade the look and feel of the centre to make it an even better place to shop.

The refurbishment and extension of the customer toilets has resulted in outstanding new facilities for customers, an increased number of cubicles a sleek new look, enhancing the overall customer experience.

There are also seven striking glass display pods located throughout the main shopping thoroughfares which give retailers the opportunity to showcase their products to passing shoppers.

In addition to this, there’s new contemporary signage around the mall including directory boards to make it easier for shoppers to find their way around the 240 shops in Livingston and new overhead banners, signage and door designs to create a brighter atmosphere.

A specially designed customer services desk has also been installed in the area outside Bhs, staffed by local team Stephanie Rodgers and Janice Thomson (pic to be attached) who are on hand daily to assist shoppers.

The new desk has also enabled new customer service facilities to be introduced including Boobaloo children’s carts to keep little ones entertained on a busy shopping trip.

Prior to Christmas a brand new 1550 space multi storey car park opened just off Almondvale Boulevard which makes it easier to park close to the mall.

Jennifer Bruce, marketing manager of Almondvale Shopping Centre, said: “These new improvements to the centre have already been well received by both retailers and shoppers.

“The new car park has been well received by shoppers who can easily access the mall from Civic Square entrance, near Vodafone and also from the entrance near the Mall Bar Café. The new signage and branding brings a brighter more modern feel to the centre in a cool blue colour, plus the glass pods catch the attention and inspire browsing shoppers. I hope people will enjoy the additions and improvements and will see the benefit it brings to their overall shopping experience.”

Almondvale Shopping Centre opened in 1976 and is Livingston’s leading shopping outlet. The centre is currently undergoing a major expansion programme to build The Elements, which will include a total investment of £130m to transform the heart of Livingston, reinforcing its position as one of Scotland’s top shopping destinations.
