APPEAL FOR SHOPPERS TO TAKE PART IN CHARITY ABSEIL

The Centre, Livingston is appealing to brave residents of West Lothian to put them selves forward for a charity abseil at the shopping centre in aid of, charity of the year, Bosom Buds of Scotland.
The 70ft abseil from the roof of The Centre will be taking place on Saturday 11th September, from 10am – 7pm to raise funds for the West Lothian-based cancer charity and is encouraging people to come forward and register to take part in the event.
Volunteers from the charity and from the management team at The Centre have already come forward to offer their support but with room for up to 750 to take to the ropes throughout the day, there is space for plenty more.
Jennifer Bruce, Marketing Manager at The Centre, said: “Our charity abseil is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see the shopping centre from a totally different perspective. We are appealing to individuals and groups to come forward and register their interest in what will be a really memorable experience.
“The Centre is very excited to be supporting the abseil, and hope that people see the challenge as a real opportunity to try something new.”
Mags Persons-Fenwick, chairperson of Bosom Buds of Scotland added: “We hope to build as much interest in the abseil as possible and make it a really exciting day for those taking part.
“The funds raised through the abseil and other activities at The Centre will make a huge difference to those around West Lothian currently dealing with cancer.”
Those who would like to take part can pick up a registration form at the customer services desk at The Centre. Alternatively you can download the form Charity Abseil Registration Form. Everyone taking part is required to raise a minimum of £75 (£25 of which to be sent with registration).
Volunteers should be over nine years of age, exceed 4ft 10inches in height and should weigh no more than 25 stones. As well as brave individuals, groups are also welcome to register.
Bosom Buds of Scotland, a new Scottish charity was registered in November and is run by Mags and Kate Fenwick and a committee of friends based around West Lothian. Kate (24) was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2009 and regularly attended St John’s Oncology Unit in Livingston for her treatment.
Bosom Buds for Scotland was created in order to help people going through a similar experience and raise as much money as possible to make their time at St John’s Hospital more comfortable. Bosom Buds will also look at helping people throughout West Lothian in lots of other ways as it grows in size and support.
