Punk Science Tour Storms into Livingston
Date of Event: 26/10/2007 - 26/10/2007
On Thursday 25 October, Punk Science visited Almondvale Shopping Centre performing some of the most exhilarating science shows ever seen. The Punk Science tour kicked off this week in Swindon and is now travelling the length and breadth of the UK over the coming weeks. It is a must see event, demonstrating the wild side of science!
Punk Science is a group of three entertainers, Brad, Dan and Jon, commissioned by The Science Museum, who have made it their mission to make science fun, interesting and engaging for everyone. As part of their show at Almondvale Shopping Centre, they demonstrated how to fly, how the greenhouse effect works and will even show you how to make a wild and messy experiment of your own.
The tour is driving support for the Science Museum’s Inspired project, one of six candidates bidding for £50 million from the Big Lottery, voted for by the British public later this year via a televised vote. The funding is vital to secure Inspired’s future as a brand-new type of interactive museum.
Jennifer Bruce, Almondvale Shopping Centre marketing manager, said: “We are delighted to be a part of the Punk Science tour, there were over 400 children took part in the demonstrations over the course of the day. Science can be interesting for people of all ages and is a great way to make education fun.”
Due to open in 2010 Inspired will be an important stimulus for young people, essential in shaping the UK’s science future, providing a hothouse of invention perfect for inspiring scientists, engineers, inventors, creators, and designers.
