FC Barcelona Score at 1st Leg of Scottish Tour

Spanish Football giant FC Barcelona – kicked off their Scottish roadshow tour today (Friday 4 July) at Almondvale Shopping Centre in Livingston – the first of five events set to take place ahead of the Catalan side’s matches against Hibernian and Dundee United scheduled for later this month.
In preparation for FC Barcelona’s arrival to Scotland, the Livingston Mall scored as the first port of call of the action-packed tour which delighted shoppers and football fans during the action-packed five hour visit.
As well as football theatre from world record keepie-uppy champion Graeme Lightbody, who wowed shoppers with his talents, the search was on to find the match day mascot for the Spanish team’s two Scottish games.
Five pairs of tickets for both the Hibernian match and the Dundee United match were also given away to lucky fans that came to support the roadshow in the first date of tour.
Jennifer Bruce, marketing manager for Almondvale Shopping Centre was overwhelmed by the popularity of the roadshow at the centre. She said: “Everyone at Almondvale Shopping Centre was thrilled to see the FC Barcelona roadshow and it really generated some real excitement for the forthcoming games.
“People in West Lothian are very passionate about football so it makes sense to bring an event like this to our visitors especially when we are looking at such a world famous side.”
World record holder, Graeme Lightbody – who is no stranger to Almondvale Shopping centre added: “FC Barcelona is a massive side so it’s big news that they are coming to Scotland to play Hibs and Dundee Utd.
“I am delighted to be taking part in the roadshow to mark the friendly matches – the Barcelona visit will certainly be a memorable event in Scottish football so it’s great to be part of the roadshow and help raise the excitement levels on the big matches.”
The five-week tour will see the roadshow visit a number of cities across Scotland in the run up to the big games. The first roadshow at Almondvale will pave the way for appearances in Edinburgh City Centre, various venues throughout Dundee and back to Easter Road ahead of the Hibernian match.
FC Barcelona will play against Hibs on Thu 24th July at Murrayfield then onto Tannadice on Sat 26th July to come face-to-face once again with Dundee United who invited the Catalan club back to the city, after the successful pre-season exhibition match between the two sides last year.
