Get Green
Date of Event: 02/06/2008 - 08/06/2008
Almondvale Shopping Centre is to host its first ever ‘Get Green at Livingston event’ to encourage visitors to become more environmentally friendly.
From Thursday 5th to Sunday 8th June a number of eco organisations will be at the shopping centre, including West Lothian Council giving advice on aspects such as waste management and composting at home.
Kids will have the opportunity to create art out of recycled eco-friendly materials including paper, cork and fabric courtesy of Bits and Bobs, an organisation which provides support and information for community groups involved in waste education activities.
Almondvale Shopping Centre and the West Lothian Courier have teamed up in a bid to encourage visitors to reduce their carbon footprint and shop locally by offering five lucky readers the chance to win £50 worth of vouchers each to spend in the centre.
The shopping centre has also joined forces with West Lothian Council’s education department to launch a Livingston-wide Energy Awareness Challenge with a prize of £2,000 for the winning schools from the centre. As part of the event, from Monday 2nd to Sunday 8th there will be an exhibition showcasing the best ideas from the schools that have taken part. Shoppers will be in with the chance of winning £100 worth of centre gift vouchers by simply voting for the winning entry by 12pm on Thursday 5th June.
